About Captain John
With over 40 years of experience cruising and exploring the Long Island Sound, my journey began as a young boy, accompanying my father on our family boat. From Block Island to Martha's Vineyard, those early adventures, pre GPS and cell phones, forged lasting memories. The love for the ocean, inherited from my father, has been passed down to my three children, who share my passion for the sea. Together, we continue to create new memories on the waters of Long Island Sound and Mystic.
Our Story
As my career in the business world nears its completion, the allure of spending more time on the water and sharing my passion for the Mystic River and Long Island Sound with others grows stronger. Thus, "Great Escape Charters" was conceived. Our vision is to offer others the chance to create lasting memories and embark on adventures they may not experience in their daily lives. Whether it's watching the sunset or spending a day anchored in a secluded harbor with family and friends, our boat provides the perfect setting for these cherished moments.
